POSITION TITLE: Payroll Specialist

Location: St. Louis, Missouri

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for all corporate payroll functions, including both union and office employees, at a St. Louis-based privately held construction subcontractor. They will ensure accurate processing, recording, and reporting of the company’s payroll. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer of the Company.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing weekly union payroll for multiple states and multiple unions
  • Processing bi-weekly corporate non-union payroll for multiple offices in multiple states
  • Managing relationship with payroll administrator ADP Workforce Now; monitoring all employee and company-wide setup within ADP software
  • Entering resulting payroll costs into corporate construction ERP software (Vista by Viewpoint)
  • Maintaining all pay rate and fringe benefit setups, for all crafts and classes, within the payroll platform and ERP software
  • Administering all employee payroll deductions, taxes, and fringe benefits
  • Administering federal, state, and local periodic tax reporting/filings; resolving tax notices
  • Preparing and submitting a variety of payroll/labor reports on a recurring schedule, including weekly certified payroll reports
  • Filing all monthly union fringe benefit reports and remitting payments – timely and accurately
  • Creating reports and analyzing costs related to payroll, as required by customers, auditors, or company leaders
  • Assisting employees with payroll and fringe benefits issues
  • Assisting in other departments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • BS/BA or related years of experience
  • Experience working within the construction industry and with construction industry ERP software is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Ability to process and manage payroll in a confidential manner
  • Knowledge of Prevailing Wage Law and Certified Payroll Reporting preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work under strict deadlines
  • Excellent organization skills, time management, and prioritization abilities
  • Having strong interpersonal and communication skills is critical
