Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for a Manager, HSE to join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Office.
Roles and Responsibilities
As the Manager, HSE you will be responsible for working with Kraken’s leadership team to promote and maintain a positive safety culture and overseeing a range of related business-critical tasks including:
- Manage and lead Kraken’s HSE site leads to the overall administration and implementation of HSE initiatives, programs, and procedures.
- Develop and manage HSE awareness campaigns.
- Ensure that the workplace is monitored and is fully in compliant with all applicable OHS related standards, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure that Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are maintained, and communicated to employees.
- Highlight areas where training / certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
- Ensure that an adequate programme of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees.
- Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and bring to the attention of Management any relevant new legislation.
- Ensure that all assessments as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and maintain records of the assessments.
- Ensure that all critical activities are risk assessed and control measures are applied before execution.
- Participate in the development and implementation of operational risk assessments to help in identifying and mitigating hazards for critical activities.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all the company’s operations; ensure the results of the inspections are documented.
- Maintain accident and incident statistics, analyze trends, and propose and / or take remedial actions where necessary.
- Foster continuous improvement of existing HSE Management Systems through sharing of best practices.
- Monitor HSE performance of subcontractors and ensure contractual and other relevant requirements are satisfied adequately.
- Assist with investigation of accidents, incidents (including near misses), and dangerous occurrences and make recommendations to prevent recurrence; ensure that corrective actions are taken; and provide recommendations to prevent similar incidents.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Safety Management.
- Certification in HSE Lead audit
- Experience with ISO45001 and 14001
- Experience working with Lithium Ion considered an asset
- 5+ years’ experience in a HSE Management role.
- Knowledge in local and international HSE laws and regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written English.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple mega projects.
- Ability to operate effectively in a global work environment.
- Excellent leadership, command, and control skills.
