Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join our warehouse/operations team. The Receiving Clerk will be responsible for receiving, verifying, and processing all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy of deliveries, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating with vendors and internal departments. This position is essential to maintain efficient warehouse operations and accurate inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
Receiving and Inspection
  • Receive and unload incoming shipments from trucks and delivery vehicles
  • Verify delivered items against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices to ensure accuracy
  • Inspect all incoming materials for quality, quantity, and damage
  • Identify and report any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods to management and vendors
  • Sign and date bills of lading and delivery receipts upon verification
Inventory Management
  • Record receipt of all merchandise in the inventory management system
  • Attach inventory tags and labels to received goods
  • Organize and store materials in designated warehouse locations
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and records
  • Monitor stock levels and report low inventory to appropriate personnel
  • Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts
Documentation and Record Keeping
  • Process and file all receiving documentation including purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices
  • Maintain organized filing system for all shipping and receiving records
  • Prepare routine reports on receiving activities
  • Update computerized inventory tracking systems
  • Forward documentation to accounting/purchasing for payment processing
Material Handling
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and other warehouse equipment safely
  • Load and unload trucks as needed
  • Transport received materials to appropriate departments or storage locations
  • Package and prepare items for return shipments to vendors
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Communication and Coordination
  • Communicate with vendors and shipping companies regarding delivery schedules and issues
  • Coordinate with purchasing department on order discrepancies
  • Notify appropriate departments of material arrivals
  • Collaborate with warehouse team members and management
  • Process and distribute incoming mail and packages as needed
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Report safety hazards and equipment malfunctions immediately
  • Maintain warehouse security procedures
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in receiving, warehousing, or inventory management
  • Experience with inventory management software and systems preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous forklift operation experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic math skills for counting and verifying quantities
  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documents
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle discrepancies
