Warehouse Operations Manager – Inbound, Outbound & Fulfillment

Location: North Bergen, NJ 

Department: Warehouse & Fulfillment Operations

Reports to: Logistics Manager 


Position Overview

The Warehouse Operations Manager oversees all day-to-day warehouse activities, including inbound receiving, outbound shipping, e-commerce fulfillment, labor allocation, and real-time operational communication. This is a hands-on, fast-paced leadership role responsible for execution, staffing, productivity, and service levels. As the company expands into high-volume fulfillment, this position ensures efficient, accurate, and scalable warehouse operations.

This role works closely with Logistics and Procurement leadership to ensure inbound and outbound shipping plans are executed efficiently and on schedule. 


Core Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Leadership & Daily Execution

Lead and manage all warehouse operations for inbound, outbound, and fulfillment workflows.

Ensure all orders are picked, packed, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.

Monitor workflow and adjust labor allocation and priorities based on volume, staffing levels, or cut-off timelines.

Serve as the primary operational point of contact for warehouse staff and internal partners. 


2. Inbound Operations

Oversee receiving, unloading, inspection, and put-away of inbound shipments.

Verify accurate receipt of goods against purchase orders and packing lists.

Maintain real-time communication with logistics, procurement, and vendors regarding delays, shortages, or inbound issues.


3. Outbound Shipping & Fulfillment

Manage picking, packing, labeling, staging, and shipping for B2B, e-commerce, and intercompany orders.

Prepare and review Bills of Lading (BOL), packing lists, parcel labels, and other shipping documentation.

Coordinate shipments with carriers and logistics teams to meet daily shipping deadlines.

Ensure operational accuracy, speed, and compliance across all fulfillment channels. 


4. E-Commerce & High-Volume Order Management

Lead high-volume order processing for e-commerce platforms.

Implement efficient batch picking, packing, and parcel shipping workflows.

Collaborate with Logistics and IT to optimize WMS workflows and system configurations.


5. Labor & Staffing Management

Supervise warehouse staff, including receivers, pickers, packers, forklift drivers and shipping clerks.

Identify staffing needs and escalate labor requirements proactively.

Assign daily tasks, monitor productivity, and enforce attendance/timekeeping rules.

Train team members on SOPs, safety protocols, and system processes.


6. Operational Communication

Respond promptly to operational emails and internal business requests.

Escalate delays, labor shortages, risks, or service threats in real time.

Provide daily updates on inbound/outbound status, exceptions, and fulfillment progress.


7. Process Control & Continuous Improvement

Enforce warehouse SOPs for receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory handling.

Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to reduce costs and increase throughput.

Maintain KPIs for order accuracy, productivity, speed, and overall operational health.


8. Inventory & Quality Control

Oversee accurate inventory handling, storage location management, and warehouse organization.

Lead cycle counts, quarterly audits, and discrepancy investigations.

Monitor damages, shortages, mis-picks, and rejections; document and escalate as needed.

• Ensure timely and accurate daily WIP updates and documentation/photographs for internal teams.

Manage inventory flow and collaborate with Sales Operations Managers on order planning and fulfillment. 


9. External Warehouse & Inter-Facility Coordination

Coordinate processes and communication with external 3PL or warehousing partners.

Support load planning, storage strategies, and inter-facility transportation.

Ensure consistency with company standards across all distribution locations. 


10. Safety & Compliance

Ensure proper equipment operation, dock safety, and facility organization.

Maintain a clean, structured, and compliant warehouse environment.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

5+ years of warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment operations management experience.

Strong understanding of inbound/outbound workflows, picking/packing, and shipping documentation.

Experience preparing BOLs and coordinating LTL, FTL, and parcel shipments.

Background in high-volume distribution center or e-commerce fulfillment.

Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems.

Proven leadership experience overseeing warehouse teams.

Strong communication skills and ability to respond rapidly to operational needs.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Experience in multi-site or national distribution environments.

Familiarity with coordinating between 3PLs, external warehouses, and corporate operations.

Experience supporting inter-facility logistics, storage optimization, and load planning.
