About this position
Job Summary
This is a working lead position primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Quality Assurance department, maintenance of daily reporting requirements, and working closely with the Shipping Department to fulfill requirements needed for shipping orders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily job assignments for all Quality Assurance personnel working on any shift.
- Ensure all equipment, fixtures, stands, and measuring equipment is always calibrated and in good working order on a daily basis.
- Identify and report recurring product defects to manager including documentation, pictures, or any other data to support the defect findings.
- Responsible for the complete and accurate completion of all inspection documentation.
- Responsible for physical inventory control of products before, during, and after the inspection process.
- Assist the manager in continually improving the inspection process for all HGNA product lines.
- Perform inspections, as time allows, for both existing, and new product samples and maintenance of gold samples.
- Assist in rework of non-conforming materials.
- Responsible for training new personnel and updating the cross-training matrix in a timely manner.
- Perform material handling activities as needed.
- Responsible for the management and/or preparation of rejected products for return to suppliers as needed.
- Assist Lead Quality Assurance Technician in completing and maintaining supplier report cards and required reports.
- Assist Lead Quality Assurance Technician in maintaining product in correct location, quantity, and status in the QCHOLD area.
- Responsible for the programming and maintenance of vision systems used in the inspection process.
- Perform product searches as necessary.
- Assume supervising responsibilities in the Manager’s absence.
- Help maintain the work area in a clean and orderly fashion and conform to all quality and safety procedures.
- Enforces all company policies and procedures.
- Assists employees with any needs from outside the Quality Assurance department.
- May temporarily be assigned to other tasks requiring comparable or lesser skill levels.
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be able to perform all Quality Assurance job duties.
- Computer proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is essential.
- Must be able to follow and effectively give oral/written instructions and communicate in a leadership role while working with a varied group of people via phone, e-mail, or face-to-face.
- Must be able to multi-task and maintain a high degree of confidentially and discretion during the normal performance of the job.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to be certified in Class “A” forklift operation. An above average attendance and dependability level is essential.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior supervisory experience is desirable, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Six months working knowledge of electrical and laser products preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and E-Mail software helpful.
- Working experience with an MRP system is desirable.
