About this position

General Description

The Senior HVAC Instructor / Program Lead owns the design and delivery of The Training Center’s HVAC training portfolio (in-person and online). You will lead curriculum development, teach high-energy classroom sessions, run safe, structured lab exercises, and maintain a continuous-improvement loop using student outcomes and employer feedback. You’ll also administer written and practical assessments, produce clear performance reports, and help represent the program through selective content creation (social media, program highlights, student work).

Job Structure

Instruction, Labs & Student Coaching

Deliver classroom instruction on all aspects of a field ready HVAC tech including: installation, commissioning, service, diagnostics, and repair.
Run hands-on labs with strict safety compliance and best practices.
Coach professional habits and soft skills.
Administer written tests and skills check-offs.

Curriculum Ownership & Program Quality

Design, improve and maintain the program curriculum and program expansion/offerings.
Keep lesson plans, lab sheets, and LMS content current and standardized.
Maintain and build training equipment, software, tools, and consumables so labs run reliably on schedule.

Industry Alignment & Program Visibility

Coordinate employer input (guest speakers, site visits, hiring expectations) to keep training field-relevant.
Lead content production for social media (short technical explainers, lab highlights, student projects) that reflects the program’s standards and safety culture.

Core Responsibilities

Create and conduct technical training in HVAC application, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, service, and maintenance.
Lead development/enhancement of HVAC programs across the Training Center portfolio (in-person + online).
Maintain curriculum assets (PPTs, lab guides, exams, rubrics, LMS materials) for accuracy and consistency.
Build and administer written/practical exams; document results and student performance reports.
Ensure lab readiness: tools, equipment, consumables, software, and training aids prepared for every cohort.
Uphold best-in-class safety practices during all instruction and laboratory activities.
Produce program-related media content aligned with our quality and safety standards.

Skills & Experience Requirements

5-10+ years of HVAC field experience (installation and troubleshooting) with strong diagnostic capability.
Teaching / training experience is ideal (trade school, apprenticeship, manufacturer training, union training, military technical instructor, or structured internal company training).
Demonstrated ability to teach both classroom concepts and hands-on labs with clear outcomes and evaluations.
Strong written communication: can produce clean lesson plans, lab sheets, exams, and student performance notes.
High standards for lab discipline: safety culture, tool control, documentation, consistent procedures.
Comfortable with common software tools (Apple or Windows environments) and learning platforms.

Strongly preferred (helps us filter for senior caliber)

Recognized credentials such as NJ HVACR Master Contractor, NATE, HVAC Excellence, or manufacturer certifications.
Experience with hybrid/online delivery and LMS course build-outs (quizzes, assignments, grading rubrics).

Work Environment & Schedule

Onsite classroom + lab delivery at our Branchburg NJ facility, with some online instruction.
Full-time; occasional evening/weekend sections during peak terms.
Must be able to work safely in a shop/lab environment and lift/carry typical training tools/equipment.

Salary Information

$80000 - $110000 Annual Salary
