About the Role:

The Medical Assistant at KC Bariatric plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical activities. This position involves performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to facilitate patient care, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for handling medical instruments, drawing blood, and processing specimens accurately and efficiently. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality care by supporting Nurse Practitioners and other medical staff while providing compassionate and professional patient interactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification, preferred.
  • Proven experience in medical assisting, including phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.
  • Ability to accurately measure and record vital signs.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in patient interaction and phone handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a bariatric or specialized medical practice.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience assisting Nurse Practitioners in clinical settings.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  • Assist Nurse Practitioners during medical procedures and examinations.
  • Perform phlebotomy duties including drawing blood and processing specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and examination rooms to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage patient communications by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information as needed.
  • Document patient information accurately in medical records and ensure confidentiality is maintained.
  • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks to optimize workflow and patient care efficiency.

Skills:

The required skills such as Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, and Vital Signs measurement are essential for performing clinical tasks accurately and efficiently on a daily basis. Proficiency with Medical Instruments and Sterilization ensures a safe and hygienic environment for both patients and staff. The ability to Draw Blood and Process Specimens is critical for diagnostic procedures and timely patient care. Strong communication skills, including Answering Phones, enable effective coordination between patients and healthcare providers, enhancing the overall patient experience.
