SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Part-Time Family Medicine Physician – Women’s Health Consultant is a licensed independent practitioner who provides outpatient Women’s Health and obstetric care within the scope of Family Medicine and serves as a clinical consultant for the Women’s Health and Family Medicine teams. The Physician focuses on direct patient care in Women’s Health and outpatient obstetrics, skills development and coaching for Nurse Practitioners, and advisory support to standardize processes and clinical quality across sites providing Women’s Health and obstetric services. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities and functions in a collaborative, advisory capacity.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
- Providing health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, independent diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions related to Women’s Health and outpatient obstetrics within the scope of Family Medicine training and privileges.
- Developing and managing medical plans of care for individuals and families, collaborating with Women’s Health and Family Medicine providers as appropriate.
- Providing health care services for which the Physician is educationally prepared, licensed, and credentialed, and for which ongoing competency has been established and maintained.
- Managing common Women’s Health concerns, including prenatal and postpartum care, contraception, gynecologic conditions appropriate to outpatient primary care, and related primary care needs.
- Applying evidence-based practice and sound clinical judgment to support high-quality, patient-centered, and cost-effective outcomes.
- Serving as a clinical resource and patient advocate for individuals and families receiving Women’s Health and obstetric care.
- Assisting in skills development and coaching for Nurse Practitioners providing Women’s Health and obstetric care, including direct observation, case review, and feedback within an educational and supportive framework.
- Collaborating with Nurse Practitioners and other clinicians to identify strengths and opportunities for growth in clinical skills, documentation, and clinical decision making related to Women’s Health and outpatient obstetrics.
- Participating in the development and refinement of standardized clinical workflows, order sets, and care pathways for Women’s Health and obstetric services across Women’s Health and Family Medicine clinics.
- Providing consultation on complex or challenging clinical cases, including informal curbside consultations and structured case conferences as requested.
- Assisting in aligning clinical practices across sites with current evidence-based guidelines, organizational policies, and applicable quality metrics related to Women’s Health and obstetrics.
- Collaborating with leadership and clinical teams to identify training needs and contributing to education sessions, case discussions, and in-service trainings.
- Supporting efforts to improve consistency in documentation, coding practices, and use of the EHR to support clinical quality, care coordination, and reporting.
- Participating in quality improvement activities related to Women’s Health and obstetric care, including review of quality data, identification of improvement opportunities, and development of action plans in collaboration with clinical and quality teams.
- Collaborating with Women’s Health and Family Medicine providers, nursing, behavioral health, pharmacy, and other team members to support integrated, team-based care.
- Providing feedback to organizational leadership regarding clinical and operational issues that impact Women’s Health and obstetric services, with an emphasis on standardization and quality.
- Supporting the integration of Women’s Health services across sites, helping to reduce variation in practice patterns and promoting best practices.
- Maintaining effective, respectful communication with all members of the care team, modeling collaborative and patient-centered care.
- Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Pursuing ongoing personal and professional development, including maintenance of clinical competencies and engagement in continuing medical education related to Women’s Health and obstetrics.

- Carrying out all job responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Kansas and/or Missouri (as applicable to practice location).
- Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine in accordance with organizational requirements.
- Demonstrated training and experience in outpatient Women’s Health and obstetric care within the scope of Family Medicine, including prenatal care and common gynecologic conditions appropriate to outpatient practice.
- Current DEA registration as required for scope of practice.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, multidisciplinary environment.
- Interest and aptitude in teaching, coaching, and mentoring Nurse Practitioners and other clinicians.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting, prioritizing tasks, and adapting to changing clinical needs.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Prior experience in a community health center, FQHC, or comparable safety-net environment.
- Experience in clinical education, mentoring, or faculty/teaching roles.
- Experience with quality improvement, population health, or value-based care initiatives related to Women’s Health and obstetrics.
- Familiarity with standardized clinical protocols, care pathways, and EHR optimization for Women’s Health and obstetric services.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
None. The Physician functions as a clinical consultant, coach, and collaborator without involvement in disciplinary actions or performance management.

- The position involves extensive use of computer, telephone, fax, and copier equipment.
- Must have manual dexterity and experience to perform handwritten paperwork, recordkeeping, and filing.

- Frequent bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting and turning, kneeling, and pushing/pulling may be required.
