Description:
The City of Valdosta Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer. Position involves a variety of law enforcement tasks, including but not limited to, assure protection of people and property; patrols assigned geographic area of the city; responds to calls relayed by the dispatcher including domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, and others; conducts preliminary inquiries, field interviews, and follow-up investigations.
- Base Police Officer Salary (with incentives) - $51,244.37
- Earn up to $55,244.37 annually based on additional incentives.
- Additional Incentives:
- $1,000 annually for partial college or partial military
- $2,000 annually for both partial college and partial military
- $2,000 annually for full college or full military
- $3,000 annually for a combination of partial military/college and full military/college
- $4,000 annually for both full military and full college
Requirements:
- At least 20 years of age
- A United States Citizen
- No felony convictions according to O.C.G.A. 35-8-8
- No family violence related convictions according to O.C.G.A. 19-13-1
- At least a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Driver’s License
- Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation, oral interview, polygraph test, physical agility test, psychological and emotional stability test, pre-employment physical and drug screen
