Description:

The City of Valdosta Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer. Position involves a variety of law enforcement tasks, including but not limited to, assure protection of people and property; patrols assigned geographic area of the city; responds to calls relayed by the dispatcher including domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, and others; conducts preliminary inquiries, field interviews, and follow-up investigations. 

  • Base Police Officer Salary (with incentives) - $51,244.37
  • Earn up to $55,244.37 annually based on additional incentives.
  • Additional Incentives:
    • $1,000 annually for partial college or partial military
    • $2,000 annually for both partial college and partial military
    • $2,000 annually for full college or full military
    • $3,000 annually for a combination of partial military/college and full military/college
    • $4,000 annually for both full military and full college

 

Requirements:

 

  • At least 20 years of age
  • A United States Citizen
  • No felony convictions according to O.C.G.A. 35-8-8
  • No family violence related convictions according to O.C.G.A. 19-13-1
  • At least a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation, oral interview, polygraph test, physical agility test, psychological and emotional stability test, pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Georgia POST Certified Law Enforcement Officers are encouraged to apply.
