Job Title: Surgical Scheduler – Breast Health
Location: 1700 Reisterstown Road, Suite 102, Pikesville, MD 21208
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Surgical Scheduler to join our Breast Health team. In this role, you will prepare the most time- and resource-efficient daily Operating Room schedules, coordinate with physicians and patients, and ensure smooth surgical operations. Your expertise will support both patient care and departmental efficiency while upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain daily OR schedules using department-specific software, maximizing utilization while minimizing delays.

  • Manage changes, cancellations, and additions to schedules; maintain a waitlist and prioritize based on physician availability, equipment, and staffing.

  • Distribute accurate schedules to relevant departments and provide reports to physicians as requested.

  • Collaborate with anesthesia, clinical leaders, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth execution of surgical schedules.

  • Coordinate surgical timing, preparation, and expectations between surgeons and patients.

  • Assign procedure and diagnosis codes accurately and document special directions regarding anesthesia or equipment needs.

  • Counsel patients on pre-admission processes, ancillary service appointments, and post-operative follow-ups; ensure signed consents are obtained.

  • Serve as a role model of professionalism, mentor peers, and participate in orientation and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure exemplary patient/customer service, addressing concerns promptly and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Stay current with new surgical procedures and terminology; attend relevant in-services.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in surgical scheduling or a healthcare administrative role preferred.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems, preferably Cerner.

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, coding, and patient care protocols is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
