Senior Design Engineer

40 hours per week

Monday through Friday 

Day Shift

Position Description

• Designs, develops, or modifies products, applying engineering principles.
• Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors.
• Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
• Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to design.
• Positions covered by this definition are characterized by the inclusion of work that requires an understanding of both theories and principles.

Requirements

• Develop knowledge of the mechanical components of Double E’s product lines.
• Process orders and review customer applications to ensure products are properly specified.
• Design products specific to customer applications and requirements.
• Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing and manufacturing departments to ensure product quality and on-time delivery.
• Create CAD drawings and representations for customer orders and detail drawing for manufacturing and purchasing.
• Perform engineering support for application engineers and product managers.
• Must be organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical principles like torque, tension, loading and deflection
• Good communication skills - able to work well in a team and communicate with customers.
• Knowledge of 3D CAD/CREO/Solid Works
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Working knowledge of basic inspection equipment

Education and Experience 

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
• 7+ years of experience
• Experience working in a manufacturing setting
• Moderate volume – high mix
• Familiarity with CNC machining and machine shop settings
