About this position
Description:
- Perform hot work cutting of wind turbine components and heavy steel using oxy-fuel torches and other specialized tools.
- Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures, including wearing required PPE.
- Prepare materials for cutting by inspecting, cleaning, and staging work areas.
- Identify and separate recyclable materials in accordance with project recycling plans.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, spotters, and other crew members to coordinate safe operations.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs or malfunctions.
- Assist with loading and unloading components for transport.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and materials processed.
- Immediately report hazards, near misses, or incidents to the Site Superintendent.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on machining processes.
- Proficiency in operating various machinery, including but not limited to CNC laser cutting, welding, and fabrication tools.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with tooling, assembly processes, and sheet metal work is preferred.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Experience with cranes for material handling is a plus.
