The Assistant Production Supervisor supports the Production Supervisor in managing daily food manufacturing operations. This role helps ensure production targets are met while maintaining food safety, quality, and hygiene standards. The Assistant Supervisor assists in supervising staff, monitoring processes, and resolving routine production issues.

Requirements:

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist in supervising daily production activities and staff
  • Ensure use of PPE 
  • Assist in administrative duties including timecards, training and all required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene standards, GMP and HACCP
  • Coordinate with maintenance and FSQA team
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and operational issues, resolving them or escalating as needed.
  • Provide hands-on orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
  • Help with personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge

  • Performance manages and coach your team of direct reports to support their career development (Shift, Tortilla Room, Cook Room, Production Room, Pack off Room).
  • Report Red’s key performance indicators for the production area to internal stakeholders in a timely  and accurate fashion.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish  is a must due to interactions with Spanish-speaking employees
  • Collaborate with Red’s production site management team to jointly achieve company objectives.
  • Complete standard daily work  in accordance with external regulations and internal governance, insuring  a safe workplace and high-quality standards for Red’s products. 
  • Execute Shift Production Room Scheduled Targets.
  • (Tortilla/Cook Room/Production Schedule will be agreed upon in the Weekly Schedule).
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Red’s corporate culture.

Preferred

  • 1-2 years of experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team.
  • Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Understands food manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Understands the functionality of ingredients with time and temperature in the food manufacturing process.
  • Working knowledge of BRC, GMP’s, HACCP,
  • Good basic math aptitude and ability to use scales and calculators.
  • Above average mechanical aptitude
  • Must have strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions  accurately.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing.
  • Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.


Work Environment 

  • Regular exposure to cold, hot and or humid conditions
  • Climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
  • Frequently works near moving and mechanical parts.
  • Possible exposure to fumes and air borne particles.
  • Ability to work in close spaces.
  • Loud noise environment to be expected.
  • Subjected to changing of priorities, time pressures, constraints, and high level of related stress.
  • Required to use PPE when working around moving machinery.
