Under direction, theSenior Plumber performs advanced plumbing work related to the installation,repair, and maintenance of gas, water, and waste disposal systems. Thisposition provides technical leadership by taking the lead over other plumbers,ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance withapplicable plumbing codes and accepted trade practices.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads andperforms plumbing work involving the installation, repair, and maintenance ofgas, water, and waste disposal piping systems and facilities.
- Troubleshootsplumbing system malfunctions and performs emergency and permanent repairs.
- Removesstoppages from piping systems, toilets, sinks, and related plumbing fixtures.
- Installs,repairs, and works with various types of piping, including wrought iron, castiron, copper, butt welded, soil, and asbestos composition pipe.
- Installsand repairs piping systems using flanged, screwed, bell and spigot,compression, and soldered joints.
- Measures,cuts, fits, and assembles piping and plumbing fixtures.
- Installs,repairs, and works with valves, fittings, and components such as pressurerelief, check, gate, globe, float, and surge valves.
- Preparesand works from sketches, plans, specifications, and roughing-in sheets inaccordance with plumbing codes and approved trade practices.
- Interpretspiping drawings and graphic symbols used in plumbing plans.
- Conductsplumbing tests on work in progress and completed installations to ensure properoperation.
- Providesguidance and instructions to other plumbers and assists with work assignments.
- Preparestime and materials estimates for plumbing projects.
- Maintainsnecessary records, documentation, and files related to plumbing work.
- Learns andutilizes electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by theCounty.
- Performsrelated duties as assigned to support facility operations.
- Four (4)years of experience in plumbing work involving a variety of layout,installation, and maintenance tasks.
- A valid MasterPlumber license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Examiners of MasterPlumbers may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.
- Applicantsmay be required to possess a valid Master Plumber license as determined by theAppointing Authority.
- Appointeeswill be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver's license only ifoperation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of theposition.
