SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for processing vendor payments, customer & client billing, Medicaid billing, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, understands accounting and billing workflows, and values accuracy and confidentiality.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Process invoices and payments using QuickBooks and Bill.com
  • Maintain purchase orders, vendor files, and credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare and send customer invoices, record and track payments
  • Follow up on customer and vendor past-due accounts
  • Support month-end tasks including bank reconciliations, rent invoicing, and chore service billing
  • Assist in preparing annual 1099/1096 filings
  • Medicaid Billing

  • Maintain and track Medicaid Plan of Care information, authorizations, and units
  • Review service documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Submit billing through the electronic Medicaid billing system
  • Responsible for processing billing for Medicaid and other services provided that require billings to clients/recipients
  • Post Medicaid receipts and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain participant billing files and archived records
  • General & Administrative

  • Handle financial and participant records with strict confidentiality
  • Assist with receptionist coverage as needed
  • Support continuous improvement of billing and accounting processes
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and compliance activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of office experience
  • 2+ years of billing experience; Medicaid billing preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Ability to interpret billing data and resolve discrepancies
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to learn new systems and adapt to evolving processes
  • Meets agency driving/insurance requirements (21+ and licensed for 3+ years)
  • LICENSE AND IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License
  • Annual PPD test
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to perform medium-duty work (lifting up to 10 lbs occasionally)
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

  • Reaching:        Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Lifting:            Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. 
  • Repetitive Motions:  Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Driving:           Minimum standards required by State Law (including license).

    $24.0 - $26.5 Hourly Wage
