Workers’ Compensation Discovery Paralegal

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responding to discovery requests, including drafting objections and creating privilege logs
  • Drafting outgoing supplemental discovery requests and tracking responses
  • Creating and updating timelines/chronologies from medical records
  • Requesting medical records and tracking responses
  • Drafting correspondence to clients and opposing parties
  • E-filing documents through the eJCC portal, including Petitions for Benefits
  • Preparing and editing ‘merge’ forms from case management software, including motions
  • Calculating the average weekly wage from wage records
  • Compiling and preparing exhibit lists for trial

Skills Required:

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF editing software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Kofax)
  • Must have working knowledge of 60Q rules of procedure for workers' compensation claims and Florida Rules of Civil Procedure related to discovery
  • Must have experience tracking billable hours contemporaneously with work performed
  • Must be well organized and self-motivated
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Should have experience with Client Profiles/ATO practice management software

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Supplemental pay types: Bonus pay

Experience: Florida Workers' Compensation Law: 3+ years preferred, but not required
