About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources & Safety Coordinator to join our team on a 12-month contract. This role plays a key part in supporting both Human Resources and Occupational Health & Safety functions at our Calgary terminal.
You will act as a front-line resource for employees and leaders, helping ensure compliance, supporting investigations, coordinating safety programs, and contributing to a positive and safe workplace culture within a safety-sensitive operational environment.
What You’ll Do
Human Resources Support
- Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and supervisors
- Support recruitment across the company, onboarding, and orientation processes
- Maintain employee files and documentation
- Assist with investigations, employee relations matters, and corrective actions
- Support unionized workforce processes and collective agreement administration
- Assist with performance and attendance management
- Support benefits, leave administration, and employee lifecycle processes
Occupational Health & Safety
- Coordinate site safety programs and compliance activities
- Support incident, injury, near-miss, and hazard investigations
- Maintain safety documentation and regulatory records
- Support WCB claims management and return-to-work coordination
- Monitor WCB clearances and address non-compliance
- Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee activities
- Coordinate safety training and certification tracking
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits
- Monitor Samsara speed notifications and follow up as required
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to frontline leaders
- Administer fleet fuel reporting
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Support policy compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring
- 2–4 years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to Occupational Health & Safety
- Working knowledge of employment legislation, Canada Labour Code, and OHS regulations
- Experience in a unionized and/or safety-sensitive environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Working Environment
- Office-based with regular exposure to operational areas, terminals, and yards
- Frequent interaction with frontline employees and leadership
- Occasional overtime may be required
- Ability to lift or move up to 10 lbs
