INTRODUCTION:

The Digital Communications Specialist will work closely with the Public Information Specialist to maintain the presentation layer, users experience and online brand standards established for the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians (CTSI) website and other social media content associated with CTSI.   


DUTIES:

  • Work with Departments to manage CTSI Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites to help disseminate information to Tribal Members.
  • Live-stream Tribal Council meetings and other live events when necessary.
  • Photograph content for website and social media.
  • Create fliers, graphics, brochures, and other visual media for a variety of mediums, including; website, social media, print, and signage.
  • Assist departments with the development and set-up of digital forms.
  • Assure that all web and social media content follows accessibility standards.

Website Management

  • Update and create content in WordPress for website. Proactively recommend new web ideas based on current web trends.
  • Develop, copy, edit, and proofread all web content.
  • Performs all tasks associated with development of static web pages including customer liaison, requirements documentation, design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Get involved with all aspects of digital projects including planning, conception, communications, compliance reviews, timeline management, and tool and tagging maintenance, presentations and working closely with respective teams on logistics, execution and metrics.
  • Identify needs for content on the site and take the lead of correlating creative projects.

Social Media

  • Manage or assist in the management of multiple CTSI Facebook and Instagram pages.
  • Manage the CTSI Vimeo account.
  • Collaborate with departments in developing social media campaigns and programming for pages.
  • Provide support and guidance to other staff that manage their department pages.

Additional Duties for Web Content Specialist II

  • Work with departments to develop short and long form video content.
  • Plan, produce, and edit video content.
  • Produce videos for internal training purposes. 
  • Design graphics for products, merchandise, and swag distributed by CTSI or CTSI departments.

Position Advancement to Web Content Specialist II:

TL 118: Multi-Media/Video Production Certification – videography, combining the use of text, audio, video, and images to create media, motion graphics, video editing, graphic design, product design, and writing.


Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

Digital Communications Specialist I (TL 117): Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Graphic Design, Communications, or related degree and one year of professional experience in the field.  

Digital Communications Specialist II (TL 119): In addition to the above stated requirements and three years of experience, incumbent will need a Multi-Media/Video Production Certification or equivalent experience in – videography, combining the use of text, audio, video, and images to create media, motion graphics, video editing, graphic design, product design, and writing. Specialized classes to improve video skills, both recording live, recording for post, and post-production.

Web Streaming Platforms

Meta Business Suite

Adobe Creative Cloud, and/or other graphic design & video editing software

Experience in:

The ideal candidate will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies and personal qualities:

Strong project management skills required to work with multiple departments to manage the website and social media pages.

CMS website management.

Live-streaming.

Good organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be a self-starter.

Excellent writing and proofreading skills.


Ability to:

Strong teamwork ability. Ability to work well with all departments within the organization.

Good communication skills to act as a resource for other departments explaining the capabilities and constraints of the web tools.

Familiarize yourself with relevant native organizations/governments, local governments and government departments to disseminate pertinent information to tribal members.

Communicate in a clear, concise, and culturally sensitive manner.

Maintain consistent branding visuals on digital content.

Manage a multitude of projects and deliver them in a timely manner. Keep track of deadlines.

Must be able to travel to area offices and work outside normal working hours as the need arises.
