Texas Center for Urology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Mansfield clinic. With 5 locations and 13 providers, our team is dedicated to delivering patient-centered, minimally invasive, and solutions-oriented urological care. Texas Center for Urology is looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. The Triage Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a telephonic position responsible for utilizing Digestive Health Partner’s protocols to coordinate and manage the care of patients. 

Schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

  • Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Salary: 

  • $19.00/hr-$20.00/hr

What You’ll Do:

  • Accept telephone calls from patients with varying levels of acuity and types of medical concerns.

  • Responsible for checking voicemails and task que, addressing any urgent or emergent tasks or messages.

  • Assess patients based on the patient’s own evaluation, concerns and responses to questions.

  • Work with nurses to create a nursing care plan with appropriate follow-up steps with guidance of physician.

  • Utilize electronic charting to access patient records remotely to review a database of possible conditions, relatable signs and symptoms and evidence-based treatments.

  • Determine the necessary follow-up for medical diagnoses and symptoms over the phone.

  • Provide clear patient information for the next steps to take.

  • Speak with patients about medication co-pay programs or patient assistance programs when applicable.

  • Prepares paperwork for infusion appointments each week (i.e. prints lab orders, verifies current orders for medications, confirms insurance authorization is on file and orders patient medication from specialty pharmacies for infusion appointments as applicable).

  • Obtain prior authorizations for injectables, coordinate delivery, and schedule initial injection training as indicated.

  • Verify that we have the correct insurance information on file.

  • Maintain accurate and complete patient record, documenting all nursing assessment, interventions, and patient responses.

  • Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all patient information.

  • Evaluate the significance of the patient’s concern over the phone and determine if emergency care is needed, if a medical appointment should be made, or if the concern should be reported to the appropriate physician.

  • Refer situations beyond ability or function to appropriate team member.

  • Relay results and follow up recommendations to the patient, coordinating these and ensuring follow up on the back end to make sure they are complete.

  • Foster positive interactions among team members and effectively communicate with other departments as necessary.

  • Maintain Basic Life Support (CPR) training certification.

  • Function within the legal limits of nursing practice. Maintain NC license and certifications.

  • Participate in in-services and continuing education to maintain and improve knowledge and skills.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

  • CMA certification (required)

  • One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience within the last three (3) years (preferred)

  • Phlebotomy Experience (preferred)

  • ACLS or BCLS (preferred)

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and ethical conduct
