Description:

The Childcare Attendant is responsible for supervising and engaging children during agency events and parent meetings across multiple programs, including Foster Care and Adoption and Family Residential services. This role supports parents by providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children while they participate in required meetings and program events. Flexibility and reliability are essential, as hours vary based on program needs.

Requirements:

Key Expectations/Responsibilities: 

  • The schedule for this role includes weekly Wednesday evening coverage of approximately 1–2 hours, along with occasional weekend availability, including select Saturdays and Sundays, as required to support program activities.
  • Will be actively involved with the children for the duration of the time. Some toys will be provided, other games and creative activities will be suggested.
  • Provide visual and auditory supervision at all times. 
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, and toileting as needed
  • Maintain      a clean and organized childcare area
  • Communicate      effectively with parents and staff
  • Work      with children ranging from 0 - 17 years old.
  • Must complete necessary training before working in this position.
  • Events when necessary

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with children in a childcare or similar setting
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • CPR and AED certification preferred 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, up to 40 pounds infrequently. 
  • Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 65% of the shift; sitting 45% of the shift. 
  • The employee is regularly required to speak or hear, may bend, stoop, reach and grasp as necessary.
