Description:

The Dispatcher is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the flow of freight within LeFebvre & Sons' trucking operations. This position ensures accurate scheduling of drivers, effective management of dispatch processes, and compliance with state and federal transportation regulations. The Dispatcher provides support to drivers while maintaining operational efficiency and meeting customer expectations.

Freight Management: Ensure the accurate and timely dispatch of all equipment to customer sites.  

Driver Oversight: Provide direction and support to drivers, ensuring schedules are communicated effectively.  

Operational Efficiency: Coordinate and monitor driver assignments to optimize productivity and revenue.  

Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) rules, and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.  

Permit Coordination: Ensure all necessary permits are completed and accurate for all loads. 

Reporting: Prepare and submit reports on dispatch operations, driver performance, and delivery metrics. 

Collaboration: Work with internal departments (including maintenance and administration) to facilitate smooth operations and resolve equipment-related issues. 

Brokerage Agreements: Process and maintain agreements in accordance with company guidelines. 

Scheduling: Plan and maintain work schedules, ensuring fair and timely driver assignments.

Process Improvement: Identify areas for operational enhancement and implement solutions to increase efficiency. 

Customer Communication: Ensure accurate and timely updates to customers regarding delivery schedules and service issues.  

Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma required
  • A degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in truck dispatching, logistics, or transportation management 
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, HOS rules, and DOT requirements.
  • Proficiency in dispatch software, Microsoft Office Suite, and online tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to address driver and customer concerns calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for leadership and team development with a problem-solving mindset

Language Ability

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.  
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability

  • Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of computers is preferred.




Salary Information

$23.50 - $36.00 Hourly Wage
