About the Role:
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children and teenagers during their summer camp experience. Your primary goal is to facilitate a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities that promote personal growth, teamwork, and fun. You will be responsible for supervising campers, ensuring their safety, and fostering positive relationships among participants and staff. This role requires adaptability, strong communication, and leadership skills to manage diverse groups and respond effectively to various situations. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to memorable and enriching summer experiences that campers will cherish for years to come.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is preferred
- Ability to pass a background check and comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physical ability to participate in and lead outdoor activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Experience in conflict resolution and behavior management.
- Training or coursework in child development, education, or related fields.
- Ability to lead specialized activities such as sports, arts and crafts, or nature exploration
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with campers throughout daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan, organize, and lead recreational and educational activities that encourage teamwork, creativity, and personal development.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm in all interactions.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff to address concerns and provide updates on camper progress.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies or behavioral issues, following established camp policies and procedures.

The required skills such as strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for building trust and rapport with campers and colleagues, ensuring clear and positive interactions. Leadership and organizational skills are used daily to plan activities, manage groups, and maintain a structured yet flexible environment. Physical stamina and adaptability enable counselors to actively participate in outdoor and recreational activities while responding to the dynamic needs of campers. Preferred skills like CPR and First Aid certification enhance safety preparedness, allowing counselors to confidently handle emergencies. Additionally, specialized skills such as conflict resolution and multilingual communication enrich the camp experience by fostering inclusivity and effectively addressing challenges.
