The Cost Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the financial operations of the United States Playing Card plant in Erlanger, Kentucky. This position helps ensure our financial results are accurate, timely, and aligned with operational performance. You’ll partner closely with production, planning, sales, and management teams to provide insights that drive better decisionmaking across the plant. Accountability, accuracy and timeliness are critical to success in this role. 

 

 

What you’ll do as a Cost Analyst:

 

Financial Close & Reporting

Play a key role of the monthly financial close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, reclasses, accruals, purchase price variances, and utility/freight capture.Deliver weekly and monthly performance reporting for scrap, KPIs, and operational spend.Support forecast and budget activities with accurate, datadriven analysis.Prepare required monthly, quarterly, and annual government reports and assist with external audit requests.

 

Product Costing & Inventory

Set up daily standard costs for new parts (cards, games, accessories) and review/approve custom casino card costing. Collaborate with sales, production, and data maintenance to ensure costing reflects actual processes.Key contributor to the monthly inventory close: run reports, validate data accuracy, identify trends or discrepancies, and communicate findings.Help manage the ongoing cycle count process—including daily worksheet tracking—and support quarterly, semiannual, and annual count procedures.Participate in annual physical inventory audits as needed.

 

Controls, Governance & Operational Support

Ensure key financial controls are followed and documented consistently.Maintain accurate documentation of capital expenditures (CAPEX), ensuring proper sales tax treatment and compliance with corporate CAPEX policies and guidelines.Work with plant teams to review open purchase orders and ensure expenses are captured in the correct periods.Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.Provide adhoc reporting and analysis to the Plant Controller and leadership teams.Build strong partnerships across all functional areas and maintain a high level of professional expertise.

 

We’re looking for a Cost Analyst with:

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance1 to 3 years professional work experienceBasic accounting knowledge (US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)Standard costing experience a plusDeveloping analytical skills, high concern for accuracy, and highly organizedAbility to self-start, prioritize work, and follow through on the detailsExcel skills must include VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, If/Then StatementsExperience with standard cost rolls, month-end accounting closing including preparation of journal entries.Strong analytical skillsExperience with SAP preferredExperience with Salesforce and/or Power BI 

Technical-Role Competencies

Strong communication skills, both written and verbalProficient with Excel, Microsoft Office and other required company software (SAP)Problem-solving skills.Must be able to handle and safeguard sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner

Physical requirements and working conditions: 

This is a hybrid remote position located in Erlanger, KY – in-office Tuesday-Thursday.  Onboarding and training to be completed 100% onsite. Sitting at workstation approximately 90 percent of work time.  Standing and walking approximately 10 percent of work time.Ability to occasionally work overtime with short notice.Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.Must occasionally visit a plant manufacturing environment.This Cost Analyst position is located on-site in our Erlanger facility
