Job Summary
The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all radiological procedures at South Boston Community Health Center in accordance with established standards, safety protocols, and quality expectations.
Key Competencies & Responsibilities
- Set up radiology equipment and adjust controls according to specific diagnostic procedures, following established techniques and protocols.
- Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring comfort, safety, and modesty throughout the procedure.
- Lift and assist patients on and off examination tables or equipment as necessary to achieve optimal imaging results.
- Position patients accurately to obtain required radiographic views based on established procedures and physician orders.
- Clearly explain examination procedures to patients before beginning each study.
- Apply protective shielding and adhere to all radiation safety standards and guidelines.
- Report unusual incidents, unexpected patient conditions, safety hazards, or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients of all ages.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure equipment is disinfected and prepared according to infection control procedures after each use.
- Attend required in-service trainings and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives related to radiology services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
- Current certification and registration as a Radiology Technologist
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
- ARRT Certification (Required)
- American Board of Radiology Certification (Required)
- Mammography Certification (Required)
