About the Role:

The Video Surveillance Installation Technician is responsible for the professional installation, configuration, and maintenance of video surveillance systems across various client locations within the United States. This role ensures that security camera systems are optimally positioned, fully operational, and integrated with existing security infrastructure to provide reliable monitoring and recording capabilities. The technician will work closely with clients to understand their security needs and tailor solutions that meet those requirements while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly is a critical aspect of this position to minimize downtime and maintain system integrity. Ultimately, the technician plays a vital role in enhancing the security posture of clients by delivering high-quality surveillance solutions and ongoing support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in installing and maintaining video surveillance or security camera systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing and network configuration.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and installation manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to client sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CCTV installation or related security technology credentials.
  • Experience with IP-based video surveillance systems and network video recorders (NVRs).
  • Familiarity with electrical wiring, conduit installation, and power supply systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations regarding surveillance and privacy.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience working directly with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure video surveillance cameras, recording devices, and related hardware at residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine optimal camera placement and system design based on client security needs and environmental factors.
  • Perform system testing and calibration to ensure all components function correctly and meet performance specifications.
  • Provide technical support and maintenance services, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and performing necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to document installation processes, system configurations, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations during installation and service operations.
  • Stay updated on the latest surveillance technologies and installation techniques to recommend and implement improvements.

Skills:

The required skills enable the technician to effectively install and configure complex video surveillance systems, ensuring all components operate seamlessly within client environments. Networking knowledge is essential for integrating IP cameras and configuring network settings to allow remote monitoring and recording. Technical reading skills allow the technician to accurately follow installation blueprints and manuals, reducing errors and installation time. Preferred skills such as certification and familiarity with electrical systems enhance the technician’s ability to handle advanced installations and troubleshoot a wider range of issues. Strong communication and customer service skills are used daily to interact with clients, understand their security needs, and provide clear explanations and support, fostering trust and satisfaction.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday with occasional weekends. Afterhours on call rotation and emergency dispatch needs. Hours vary based on client/company needs but generally have an 8AM start time to 5-6PM stopping time. 

Travel Requirements:

Weekly travel throughout FL, GA or SC is common. All drive/travel time is performed in company issued vehicles, compensated at full pay rate, covered with company expense accounts and per diem issued.

Other Requirements:

The individual will be required to furnish their own hand tools, such as, but not limited to, screw drivers, scissors, wrenches, wire strippers/cutters, crimpers, sockets/ratchets, all formed of pliers/cutters, voltage meter, and any other hand tool needed to accomplish an install or service call. The individual must have no felony or criminal record, pass drug screening and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Compensation:

The role has a window or compensation that will range based on experience. skill set and certifications held. Rates are negotiable and based on those stated factors but generally range from $22.00/hr - $42.00/hr. These rates do not include per diem while traveling, commissions, etc. Rates/Offers will be discussed and agreed to at time of hire.
