This is a hands-on role in a lean team, with real responsibility for architecture, reliability, and security. You will work closely with backend and data science teams and act as the technical authority for infrastructure decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, harden, and operate our AWS infrastructure with a focus on reliability, security, and clear failure boundaries.
  • Introduce and own Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) for core production infrastructure.
  • Improve network architecture, access control, and blast-radius isolation across services.
  • Strengthen data ingestion and processing pipelines to handle bursty workloads safely.
  • Own CI/CD infrastructure (GitHub Actions) for infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Implement guardrails, monitoring, and alerting (CloudWatch, Datadog) to detect misconfigurations and failures early.
  • Define and maintain backup, recovery, and incident response procedures.
  • Work closely with application engineers and data scientists to enforce sane operational limits.
  • Actively improve security posture and support compliance requirements (e.g. ISO27001).
  • Mentor team members and raise the overall infrastructure maturity of the company.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud / Infrastructure / DevOps roles with real production ownership.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS
  • Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, IAM, and least-privilege design.
  • Experience operating data-heavy or event-driven systems.
  • Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and push back when something is unsafe.
  • Startup mindset: pragmatic, hands-on, and comfortable with ambiguity.

Bonus

  • Experience with MongoDB Atlas or similar managed databases.
  • Experience in regulated or sensitive data environments.
  • Interest in sports technology or health data.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary with an equity incentive plan.
  • High impact role with real ownership over our cloud platform.
  • Opportunity to shape infrastructure that supports elite sports organizations.
  • A pragmatic, engineering-driven environment with short decision paths.
  • Flexible working hours and home-office options.
  • Office in Austria with excellent public transport access and on-site parking.
