22nd Century Group, Inc. is a U.S. based contract manufacturer of combustible tobacco products and the exclusive producer of VLN® reduced-nicotine cigarettes. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Mocksville, North Carolina, the Company is redefining the combustible cigarette through proprietary low-nicotine technology.

Position Summary:

The Electronics Technician maintains and repairs the electrical functions and components of high-speed cigar and cigarette manufacturing and packing equipment in a safe and efficient manner and is responsible for machine condition and preventative maintenance.

**The hours for this role currently are M-Th 5:30am-4:00pm with preventative maintenance as needed on Fridays.

Essential Function:

  • Diagnose machine problems, respond to operator diagnosis and adjust/repair machine accordingly. 
  • Use tools such as wrenches, gauges, meters, etc. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Perform visual quality checks on machine.
  • Perform parts repair/replacement of various electrical components.
  • Occasionally lift/position materials up to 64 lbs.
  • Use ladder.
  • Perform procedures and work assignments in keeping with company policy, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and management.
  • Communicate effectively with mechanics when performing work on production machinery.
  • Use testing equipment provided by NASCO Products LLC in event of product defect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor, Plant Engineer, and General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Associate degree required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Certificate in related field preferred. 
  • 3 years’ experience working with high-speed manufacturing equipment required.
  • Preferred tobacco manufacturing experience preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of tools such as wrenches, gauges, meters, etc.
  • Knowledge of various electrical components such as AC Drives, Electric Motors, PLCs, Photo-optic Sensors, etc.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Must be able to stand for 8-hour shift.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics preferred.
  • Good understanding of electrical diagrams and blueprints
  • Experience with various machining tools such as presses, saws, etc.
