Job Summary:
As a vital member of our Clinical Care Team, the Allergy/Immunology Medical Assistant (AI MA) plays a key role in supporting both direct and indirect patient care. This position combines clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure optimal patient outcomes, exceptional customer service, and a professional environment for patients and staff.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program (MA, RMA, CMA required)
- 1–2 years of experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Prior experience in Allergy and/or Immunology strongly preferred
- Current BLS and CPR certification preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Schedule patient appointments and prepare charts for upcoming visits
- Interview patients to gather medical history and measure vital signs, height, and weight
- Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with room turnover
- Document patient information, vital statistics, and test results in medical records
- Administer medications and perform testing as directed by the physician
- Handle patient phone calls, prescription refills, and prior authorizations for medications and biologics
- Provide patient education under provider guidance
- Maintain clean and well-stocked treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
- Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain a safe working environment
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and protect patient privacy
- Monitor inventory and order medical and office supplies as needed
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
