Position Overview

The HVAC Estimator is responsible for accurately developing cost estimates for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across a variety of construction projects. This role involves reviewing construction documents, performing detailed material and labor takeoffs, and preparing competitive, accurate bids to support successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine HVAC scope of work.

• Perform detailed HVAC material takeoffs, including equipment, ductwork, piping, fittings, controls, and

accessories.

• Estimate labor hours required for HVAC installations based on project scope, complexity, and industry

standards.

• Research and obtain current pricing for HVAC materials, equipment, labor, and subcontracted services.

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates including material costs, labor, equipment, overhead, and profit margins.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative HVAC systems, materials, or installation methods

when appropriate.

• Prepare and submit accurate and timely bids in accordance with project deadlines.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure estimate accuracy and

constructability.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC codes, regulations, energy standards, and material pricing trends.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in HVAC estimating or a closely related HVAC role.

• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, codes, and industry standards.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting HVAC drawings, plans, and technical specifications.

• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

• Proficiency in estimating software and spreadsheet applications.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
