Customs Brokerage Entry Writer

- Starting Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Annual Salary Range
Position Summary:
The primary role of the Customs Brokerage Entry Writer position is to achieve a high level of customer service to our clients and follow all guidelines as relates to customs. Build a positive relationship with our key accounts’ customers internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Customs Brokerage Entry Writer, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and filing Customs entries.
- Performs ISF filings for imports.
- Generate files in EDI trade system.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer records.
- Collaborate with staff, overseas offices and other third parties to ensure efficiency, continued exemplary customer service.
- Performs pre-clearance review of all import documentation, and work with Suppliers / Forwarders / Broker to ensure compliance
- Communicate with vendors, government agencies, and key account
- Responsible for clearing goods through Customs.
- Track cargo from end-to-end of shipment process.
- Works with trucking companies to schedule inbound shipments
- Ensure beginning-to-end, smooth, and timely freight process flow.
- Interact and develop relationships with customers while arranging their international shipments
- Meeting customer service standards.
- Quickly resolves any shipping delays/issues.
- Works with freight forwarders, brokers, and international transportation resources.
- Respond to customer inquiries and follow-up to ensure issue resolution.
- Understand and input applicable financial components of shipments and invoice our customer properly.
- Compliance with customs laws and regulations.
- Other duties and assignments as required.
What We're Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Education and Industry Knowledge
- Highschool diploma (or equivalent) required. Bachelor's or Associate degree in Logistics, or related field is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Customs Brokerage is an asset.
- Experience in Transportation or Logistics industry is an asset.
- Government agency knowledge required.
- US Customs rules and regulations knowledge required.
- CHB license is an asset but depending on experience, not required.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in TM is an asset.

Work Schedule
- Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.
Work Environment
- Usually moderate noise level.
- Climate controlled office environment.
