About this position

Position Summary:  Assist in assessing resident care needs and implementing appropriate action; implement nursing policies and procedures; supervise staffing for the nursing department; supervise the quality of nursing care provided to the residents; and function as a designated staff person in charge when indicated.
 
Position Responsibilities – Service
  • Direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care
  • Interpret existing policy and procedure to nursing staff, resident, families and physicians
  • Review documentation on resident admitted and compare physician orders with each resident’s plan of care to assure appropriate implementation of the physician’s plan of care
  • Oversee, support, and educate medication aides
  • Education and in-service training to nursing staff
  • Participate in department head meetings
  • Assist new employees in following facility policies and procedures
  • Implement and review Individual service plans (care plans) per regulations
  • Assess potential or new residents
  • Assist with admission and discharge process
  • Assist with nursing new hire, yearly training, and evaluations
  • Report change in condition of residents to administrator
  • Answer business phones
  • Tour inquiring individuals
  • Answering call bells and respond to alarms
  • All other duties assigned
Team Effort:
  • Assist in the development and updating of each resident care plan (ISP)
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with State and Local Regulations
  • Chaperone activities outside the facility as needed
Action:
  • Identify resident issues and communicate them to the Administrator and the resident’s physician
  • Keep the environment safe for residents
  • Provide one-on-one support/visitation to residents
  • Respond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention and follow-up
  • Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils
