POSITION DESCRIPTION        

Position Title: Certified Medication Aide

Department: Nursing

Reports To: Executive Director  

Position Summary: 

The Medication Aide assists the Neighborhood Coordinator nurse with accurate and timely medication administration to the residents entrusted to our care. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and have a strong attention to detail. This person will also be an enthusiastic, reliable, and compassionate individual with a passion for caring for others. The Medication Aide must be able to follow physician orders and document the medication administration accurately and in accordance with Jennings’ policies and procedures.   

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

    Provide residents with medication administration and treatment assistance and services according to the health care provider's orders

    Supervise residents who self-administer medication while following community and regulatory guidelines

    Report any changes in residents' physical condition and/or behaviors

    Maintain resident records regarding medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents and observations

    Follow the schedule of resident's needs set out by supervisor.

    Provide emotional and social support to residents.

    Document daily log of assistance.

    Inform supervisor of any resident issues or concerns.

    Respect and encourage the independence and dignity of the residents.

    Respect residents' confidentiality.

    Be familiar and comfortable with emergency equipment and procedures.

    Strive to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.

    Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.

    Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Community.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

B.    Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.

C.    Observe all infection control policies.

D.    Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

E.    Follow and assume accountability for all policies and procedures contained in the Staff Handbook.

F.    Plan work in an efficient manner and demonstrate dependability.

G.    Understand and comply with the Corporate Compliance Program.

I.    Perform all other related duties as directed by your supervisor and/or manager.

Qualifications:

3A.    Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position.  Specific concepts, courses, training programs or required certifications:

A.    Requires High School Diploma or GED

B.     Must have current Ohio Board of Nursing Medication Administration Aide Certification.

C.    Must have one-year experience as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) licensure in the State of Ohio.

D.    Must be CPR Certified and have current certification.

    Ability to lift approximately 100 pounds

    Must be able to bend, turn, push, pull, walk, read orders in English.

    Ability to speak with residents, families and team members.

    Ability to type/ document at a computer and efficiently use various software.
