Position Summary:
Responsible for making sure all flow traffic, inbound and outbound, have constant smooth flow and that all paper work is maintained and issued properly. Material Handler I handles the inside warehouse operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Within the warehouse and yard, the Material Handler 3 Operates fork truck, wheel loader, and skid steer to unload inbound shipments and load outbound shipments for trucks as well as maintain the yard with skid steer.
  • Help drive and maintain organization of the warehouse and yard by maximizing space utilization and physically stocking products in the proper locations.
  • Participate in Cycle Counting and Physical Inventories within the warehouse and yard.
  • Participate in clean up initiatives in the warehouse and yard.  Clean up includes activities such as picking up misc. debris from the yard to moving junk mats to the cull pile. Cleaning sawdust, painting, etc.
  • Collecting all paperwork from drivers, (returns, receiving, signed BOL’s) and submit it to the receiving shack
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Complies with and is an advocate of the company’s Environmental Policy and Procedures.
  • Pursue Continuous Improvement activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within area of responsibility.
  • Assume other responsibilities and complete tasks as assigned to meet the on-going needs of the organization.
  • Operate a fork truck or Wheel loader to move mats and lumber around the mat yard and warehouse.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Must possess valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Minimum 1- year of experience operating a fork truck and wheel loader
  • Character consistent with the Sterling Values and Business Code of Conduct & Ethics.
  • Portray a consistent, positive and winning attitude with a team mindset.
  • Proficient in operating a fork truck.
  • Strong organizational skills to sort and organize inventory
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment both within a team or independently.
  • Bilingual and/or ability to effectively communicate in English - both orally and in writing.

Full-time hourly: $16.00 - $18.00 dependent upon experience, and qualifications.
