Job Description: Prep Cook/ Dishwasher
Department: Gourmet Italian Cuisine Restaurant
Status: Full Time
Overview: Responsible for preparing food ingredients from tasks such as washing, chopping, slicing and following recipes. The employee must maintain a clean kitchen by washing dishes and storing them properly.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation, including washing, chopping, slicing and measuring ingredients for various dishes.
- Follow recipes and portion sizes as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager.
- Ability to work under pressure, take direction, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Communicates and coordinates with the broiler cook to ensure that all food products are prepared and ready for service at the correct time.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, grills, and slicers.
- Restocks all food items, condiments, plate ware, equipment and supplies throughout the shift to ensure sufficient stock levels for the demands of business.
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans using dishwasher or by hand.
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
- Clean garbage cans.
- Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas.
- Sort and remove trash, place it in designated pickup areas.
- Sweep and scrub floors.
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand.
- Perform routine cleaning of kitchen space including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, trash removal, moving dirty pots and pans and stocking clean etc.
