About this position
The Outreach Specialist manages the delivery of Girl Scout outreach programming; recruit and support volunteers to deliver programming; and set and achieve participation goals and maintain proper reports. This position will cover the Grand Island and Kearney areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and implement Girl Scout outreach programming for underserved girls in identified areas, community centers, and in afterschool programs.
- Assess community demographics and program needs to determine where Outreach can most effectively serve girls.
- Establish connections with site personnel and after school staff, ensure Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is completed, and develop a program plan to increase girl membership.
- Develop program plans using Girl Scout curriculum and launch Girl Scout programming ensuring that activities follow the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Evaluate the program, track girl participation, assess girl and family satisfaction and administer pre and post program surveys
- Recruit and manage volunteers.
- Recruit volunteers to assist with program delivery at assigned outreach sites and ensure that adult-girl ratios are maintained for each site meeting.
- Facilitate the Council’s background screening process with each volunteer prior to volunteer appointment.
- Provide a volunteer orientation, ensure that all volunteers feel supported, and assess their leadership performance.
- Develop and implement summer Girl Scout Outreach programming
- Develop and implement program outline and secure a location for the program to be held.
- Work with the Council staff to execute the process for maintaining grant records and reporting.
- Assist in gathering and preparing information for grant management needs by the deadline. Maintain a resource of girl success stories and pictures to tell our story to funders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Belief in the values and mission of Girl Scouts and willingness to join the Girl Scout movement.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, recreation or related field or equivalent experience and training.
- Ability to work with positively and collaboratively with others in a diverse team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer management and customer service.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering programs for children and adults.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid motor vehicle operator license and unlimited use of vehicle.
- Clean driving record and insurable in accordance with Girl Scouts insurance policy
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
