Position Summary

The Kitchen Associate supports daily kitchen operations by performing a combination of dishwashing, food preparation, and general kitchen upkeep. This role ensures a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while assisting cooks and culinary staff with basic prep tasks. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high standards of sanitation and food safety.


Associate will perform all responsibilities listed below. 


Key Responsibilities


Dishwashing & Sanitation

  • Wash,  rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and equipment according to health and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dish area, including dish machine, sinks, floors, and surrounding workspaces.
  • Properly store clean dishes and equipment in designated areas.
  • Remove trash, recycling, and compost as needed; maintain clean and organized waste areas.
  • Follow all sanitation, safety, and chemical-handling procedures in compliance with company policies and local health regulations.

Food Preparation

  • Assist  cooks with basic prep tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, portioning, and labeling ingredients.
  • Prepare simple items such as salads, fruit, cold items, or pre-portioned ingredients as directed.
  • Set up and restock prep stations throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all food items are stored properly following FIFO and food safety guidelines.
  • Communicate low inventory or product needs to the supervisor or lead cook.

Kitchen Support

  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, rotating stock, and organizing dry storage and walk-ins.
  • Keep prep areas, counters, and equipment clean and sanitized throughout the shift.
  • Support cooks during service by replenishing ingredients, utensils, and clean equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements:

 Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen, prep, or dishwashing experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions.
  • Positive attitude and teamwork mindset.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent standing and movement.

Schedule

  • Flexible schedules include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.


Salary Information

$19.00 - $19.50 Hourly Wage
