Purpose of the role: To support the bartenders in preparing and servicing the bar in a continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability for the bar.
Responsibilities:Barback DutiesUnderstand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Lead Bartender or General Manager, when necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction.Retrieve orders from storeroom, visually check stock and reconcile with written requisitions to ensure order accuracy and re-check stock upon delivery.Prepare the bar by cutting, slicing, and peeling perishable garnishes and fruits, mixing and pouring juices and storing back-up supplies in prescribed containers.Prepare charcuterie & cheese boards in a clean prep station. Cleaning up food prep area when done working with food.Wash, dry, and restock glassware & dishes.Prepare garnishes for service bartender to help expedite service.Check the cleanliness of the guest restrooms every hour.Assist with batching cocktails if/when batches are running low.Assist with preparing house syrups, infusions, and other homemade ingredients.Check with and assist the bartender to stock and maintain the bar to include, but not limited to, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce.Maintain cleanliness of bar area, beer lockers, refrigerators, and storage areas in accordance with federal, state, local and company codes.Extend a courteous, friendly, and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.Be familiar with company beverage menu and drink recipes.Review and verify previous shift’s inventory, at the beginning of every shift.Maintain the proper care and cleanliness of equipment to minimize breakage. Other DutiesCheck ID’s when no Security Guard on duty.Depending on business levels, may be required to take guest drink orders at tables/parklet including closing guests out and running drinks.Represent Wildhawk Bar in a positive and professional manner. Promote and comply with all policies and procedures of PlumpJack and Wildhawk Bar. Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions and avoid injury to self and others.Maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.Attend all mandatory meetings as directed.Perform other tasks, including cross training, as directed.Adhere to the attendance and punctuality policy as outlined in the PlumpJack Employee Handbook. Report to work as scheduled and be prepared to start work. Remain at work for the entire work shift, except for meal and rest periods or when required to leave on authorized PlumpJack business. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role. Must have current Food Handler Certificate and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate that reviews all California liquor laws.Current CPR certification preferred. Must be flexible, work efficiently under pressure and able to work in a noisy fast-paced bar environment.Basic knowledge of foods, service standards and procedures. Detail oriented, organized, and efficient. Diplomatic and calm with strong verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with co-workers and guests in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable. Working Conditions:Works indoors mainly in adequately lighted bar area. This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Work areas may be crowded and noisy. Exposed to outside conditions while servicing outside area. Bar floors may be uneven and may be slippery. Required to frequently go up and down stairs throughout shift.
