Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled, reliable, and adaptable professional to serve as a Class A Diesel Mechanic, responsible for maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of our fleet. This hybrid role supports Class A vehicle service at our warehouse location in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver with strong mechanical skills and experience managing commercial property needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Weather & Emergency Preparedness:
    • Coordinate pre- and post-storm inspections and responses (snow removal, leak repairs, salting walkways).
    • Be available for after-hours or emergency maintenance needs.
  • Equipment Management:
    • Inventory and maintain all facility maintenance tools and equipment (scrubbers, sweepers, ladders, hand tools).
    • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness of all tools and machinery.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Serve as project lead or foreman for on-site vendor repairs, installations, or construction-related work.

Mechanic Duties:

  • Fleet Maintenance & Repair:
    • Perform diagnostics and minor repairs on Class A trucks (brakes, electrical, suspension, engine components).
    • Conduct routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation, fluid level checks).
    • Ensure compliance with DOT standards and perform safety checks.
  • Shop & Equipment Management:
    • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and manage tool and parts inventory.
    • Document all repair and maintenance activity accurately and timely.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Experience:
    • Strong working knowledge of commercial facility maintenance.
    • Proven experience in diesel truck maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.
  • Certifications & Education:
    • Class A Diesel Mechanic Certification or equivalent experience (required).
    • High School Diploma or GED (required), technical or trade school (preferred).
    • ASE, OEM training, or 608/609 HVAC certifications are a plus.
  • Skills & Physical Requirements:
    • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, hand/power tools, and shop equipment.
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments related to the position.
    • Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions and during off-hours as needed.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to prioritize tasks independently.
  • Valid Class A CDL (preferred).
  • Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and local safety compliance standards.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for tracking repairs.

Salary Information

$25.0 - $33.0 Hourly Wage
