Position Summary:

The HR Generalist reports to the VP of Human Resources and will provide day-to-day support for a variety of other human resources programs and activities. The HR Generalist will oversee the entire Payroll function and operations for the US-based parts of our Company. LaMotte Company has approximately 300 employees paid on a bi-weekly basis. The Chestertown, MD location has 3 different shifts and our Newark, DE location is a 24/7 operation and has 4 Teams that work 12- hour shifts. Responsibilities include providing new and creative ideas, partnering with cross-functional teams and leaders, engage in staffing, organizational development along with benefits knowledge and administration. Other activities include actively participating in initiatives to encourage and support LaMotte’s culture. It is essential for the HR Generalist to maintain confidential employee and company information within the Human Resources Department and assist in leading the organization in various initiatives.


Job Responsibilities: 

· Conducts new hire/employee onboarding and organizing onboarding initiatives (presentation).

· Training administered for new employees and managers on payroll system, timecards, manager approvals/updates or corrections needed along with attendance points tracking in system. 

· Works with the supervisor/manager monitoring and updating/maintaining attendance calendars and disciplinary actions for point levels.

· Manages and tracks employees who may be going on a leave or on a leave, such as disability, FMLA etc., by completing forms with the employer portion for short term disability, long term disability and life insurance claims.

· Performs a variety of tasks, such as the creation of online advertising, limited web site management and content, internal communications.

· Partners with Chestertown supervisors and managers on recruitment process, end-to-end full recruiting cycle.

· Recruiting and interview involvement, quality assurance of candidates resumes, and acting as an active coordinator between management and the candidate as needed.

· Employee relations:

o Acts as a liaison between employees and management.

o Advises employees and/or Managers regarding specific issues relating to personnel compliance, as applicable. When situation exceeds his/her scope of expertise, defers issue to specific department’s VP and the Vice President of HR

· Assists with service awards program & recognition of employees.

· Promote and partner with HR team on all employee engagement activities. 

· Completes special projects as assigned by Vice President of Human Resources. 

· Processes the biweekly payroll via the HRIS of ADP portal for both exempt and non-exempt hourly (production and non-production)

· Prepares a and process payroll for multi-state by verifying time records; calculating and producing checks or electronic transfers; calculate and produce yearly, quarterly and biweekly incentive bonuses.

· Ensures company stays within compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.

· New hire set up entering biographical, tax withholding, payroll deductions and overseeing new hire onboarding information entered in Payroll system, etc. 

· Updates records by reviewing/calculating changes in exemptions and deductions.

· Entering of all employee changes for current employees regarding salary, title, dept, supervisor, promotions, shift changes, new hires, terminations, etc.

· Completes wage garnishment requirements by completing forms, adjusting payroll records, documenting and transmitting withholdings.

· Prepare year end reports W-2, statements.

· Other duties assigned.


Miscellaneous:

1. Notifies manager of any process, quality, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc. and cooperates in resolving such issues as well. For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails. 

2. Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).

3. Located in the Chestertown, MD Facility with occasional travel to our Newark, DE Facility.

4. Performs other duties as assigned. (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.)


Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: 

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field is required, along with a minimum of two (2) years of payroll administration experience. Three (3) or more years of HR experience is preferred, with experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

· Experience with ADP software desired or other payroll processing system.

· Proficient computer skills using Word, Excel, database management.

· Must be ethical, trustworthy, professional, able to maintain confidentiality, and a team player.

· Strong interpersonal skills: pleasant demeanor, good listener, tactful/diplomatic, good oral and written communication 

· Excellent administrative and organizational skills including the ability to pay attention to details and perform tasks accurately.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to work under intense pressure to meet deadlines.

· Strong accounting and math skills.

· Good judgment/decision making skills.


Environmental/Physical Factors: Works indoors in temperature-controlled environment. No significant exertion required. Primarily sits at desk, works on computer, talks on telephone, and interacts with employees.  However, walks to and from other departments throughout the company, printers and fax machines, meetings, restroom, etc. May on occasion drive to and attend an offsite meeting or training seminar or pick up items locally for a company-sponsored event. When preparing for company-sponsored events, may assist with set up and break down of tables & chairs, transporting food, and cleanup.

$60000.00 - $80000.00 Annual Salary
