Description:

As a Welder, you’ll set up, operate, and maintain MIG welding equipment to build products that meet or exceed Virnig quality standards in a safe and efficient manner. Strong communication and interaction skills are needed. Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills are essential to develop solutions to problems that arise, while organizational skills are necessary to ensure work is done correctly, on time, and properly documented. The person in this position will be cross trained to be a backup in other areas of production as necessary. 


Pay:

Day Shift – $25.50 per hour

Night Shift – $27.90 per hour

Work Schedule:

Day Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Night Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m.

Occasional Friday work may be required during peak production periods.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate welder to weld various component parts and sub-weldments
  • Utilize hand tools, fixtures, and clamps for small welding applications.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions, standing for long periods.
  • Monitor the fit up and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts that cause warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Pull all prints and verify that attachments/weldments are correct. 
  • Hit daily production numbers set by the schedule. 
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment and notify supervisors when necessary.
  • Perform daily and weekly equipment maintenance to ensure good working condition.
  • Ensure all safety policies are followed, wear personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in proper ergonomic practices as designed of this position.
  • Maintain a clean and organized area/work station.
  • Work as a team-member to aid all shifts and support personnel to operate to departmental standards including quality and productivity goals.
  • Responsible to inform leads(s) of any concerns that arise.
  • Be cooperative, positive, and respectful with management, leads, coworkers and team.
  • Assist in other areas as needed, other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed.  

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; basic math skills required. 
  • Minimum 1-year experience in welding and/or equivalent field or completion of trade school course required. 
  • Forklift and hoist experience preferred. 

Skills:

  • Ability to operate pneumatic and hand tools such as sanders, grinders, and cutting torches.
  • General knowledge of wire feed welding of mild steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 
  • Ability to read tape measure to perform accurate measurements per specific print and drawing tolerances. 
  • Ability to express ideas, share information, and listen actively. 
  • Able to work both independently and as a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. 
  • Frequent bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching required throughout the shift. 
  • Regular exposure to repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete floors. 
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmet, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
