Job Title: Tooling Shift Leader

Position Summary:
The Tooling Shift Leader works directly with the Tooling Foreman and Supervisor to lead the operations of the die maintenance shop. The Shift Leader leads crews of 6-10 individuals ensuring that assignments are completed and Safe work is practiced. Tooling Shift leaders are also the primary contact person for the Forging department for die related production issues.

Position Summary:
The Tooling Shift Leader works directly with the Tooling Foreman and Supervisor to lead the operations of the die maintenance shop. The Shift Leader leads crews of 6-10 individuals ensuring that assignments are completed and Safe work is practiced. Tooling Shift leaders are also the primary contact person for the Forging department for die related production issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead assigned team members each scheduled day to ensure they are on task and working per SOPs.
- Serve as point of contact for Forging department when press assistance is needed.
- Maintain die oven rotations for pre and post heating process.
- Understand & communicate shop priorities, ensure all members are focused on assigned priorities.
- Generate schedules for each process to control process flow and ensure targets are met.
- Communicates directly with management on Safety concerns, process issues, and schedule changes.
- Lead & participate in daily safety walkthroughs of the department and satellite areas.
- Provide in-depth documentation on the content of work performed during “press assistance calls”.
- Once Shift Leader assignments are satisfied each day the individual functions as a working member of the team, completing die repair tasks in their domain area.
- Assist Foreman with training of new employees.
- Maintain sanctity of the workspace through the enforcement of 5s principals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Machining or Welding related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a leadership role preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in machining or manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to sit/stand/walk 12 hrs. per day.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic English
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work in hot/cold environments.
