Position Summary:

The Lifeguard is responsible for promoting a safe and positive experience for all pool guests. This seasonal role runs from May through September and requires strong teamwork, high energy, and effective multitasking. In this position, you will help maintain a secure and welcoming environment while providing friendly and attentive service at the pool.


Department: Sports Center

Reports to: Aquatics Manager

Supervises: None

Employment Status: Seasonal


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the pool area to ensure safety.
  • Enforce pool rules and respond to emergencies, including administering first aid and CPR.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the pool and whirlpool areas.
  • Assist guests, including individuals with disabilities, in a friendly manner.
  • Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Assist with towel management and other poolside duties.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with guests.


Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Active Deep-Water Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications are required. Certification courses are offered through the club, and attendance will be required on a date to be scheduled.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to swim 300 yards using front crawl and breaststroke.
  • Ability to tread water for 2 minutes and retrieve a brick from the bottom of the pool.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform rescues effectively.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for long periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, sun exposure, wind, rain, and fluctuating temperatures, while maintaining alertness and ensuring patron safety.
