Our main plant and office is located in Saline MI. The location of this warehouse position will be in Romulus.

1  - First Shift 7-3pm

1 - Second Shift 3-11pm

1 - Third Shift 11pm - 7am

Job Summary

The Warehouse Shift Supervisor provides frontline leadership to warehouse associates and ensures daily execution aligns with operational goals, production schedules, and customer requirements. This position oversees labor allocation, workflow execution, and compliance with food safety, GMP, and safety standards. The Supervisor is accountable for performance, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across all assigned warehouse functions.  The Supervisor serves as a key extension of Warehouse Management and plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling activities across assigned shifts.
  • Ensure accurate execution of inbound receipts, outbound shipments, staging, consolidation, and inventory movements.
  • Monitor production and shipping schedules; adjust staffing and priorities to meet service, cost, and quality targets.
  • Support physical inventories, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities in partnership with Inventory Control.
    • Lead, coach, and motivate hourly associates to achieve safety, productivity, and quality goals.
    • Manage staffing levels, breaks, lunches, overtime, and labor redeployment during downtime or changing priorities.
    • Conduct daily shift start-up meetings to communicate priorities, expectations, and safety topics.
    • Administer corrective actions and performance documentation in accordance with company policies and labor guidelines.
    • Support onboarding, training, and certification of warehouse associates, including forklift and safety training.
    • Enforce compliance with GMPs, food safety, sanitation, OSHA, and company policies.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment.
    • Identify, report, and lead corrective actions for safety incidents, quality defects, and non-conformances.
    • Partner with Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
    • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize space utilization.
    • Track and communicate KPIs related to safety, productivity, inventory accuracy, and service performance.
    • Utilize KPI scorecards to drive accountability and continuous performance improvement.
    • Identify process gaps and recommend solutions to enhance warehouse flow and operational effectiveness.
    • Maintain clear, timely communication with Warehouse Management and cross-functional departments.
    • Use digital communication tools (e.g., Slack) to provide real-time updates on production, shipping, and staffing issues.
    • Collaborate with department leaders to coordinate coverage for vacations, absences, and peak demand periods.
    • Escalate risks, constraints, or service impacts proactively.
    • Monitor preventive maintenance schedules for warehouse equipment and coordinate with Maintenance on repairs or downtime.
    • Ensure material handling equipment and racking are used safely and properly.
    • Provide floor support as needed, including assisting with loading, unloading, consolidation, and system transactions during high-volume or constrained periods.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support warehouse operations and business needs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of warehouse or logistics supervisory experience, preferably in a large-scale or food-grade environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse KPIs, labor management, and process improvement tools.
  • Familiarity with GMP, OSHA, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Experience with warehouse systems (WMS, ERP, or SAP preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends or overtime as required.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or willingness to maintain certification.

Salary Information

$28.85 - $31.25 Hourly Wage
