About the Role:

The Mechanic - Workshop plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of drilling equipment at our Salt Lake City facility. This position involves the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components and systems used in drilling operations, contributing directly to the reliability and performance of our equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform routine inspections, and implement preventative maintenance strategies. This role demands a strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to minimize downtime and support continuous production. Ultimately, the Mechanic - Workshop ensures that all mechanical systems are functioning optimally to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent in mechanical fitting or related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment used in drilling operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals both electrical and hydraulic.
  • Experience with hand and power tools commonly used in mechanical maintenance and fitting.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and ability to follow safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in drilling or heavy machinery maintenance environments.
  • Certification in mechanical fitting or related technical disciplines.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems used in drilling equipment.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and drilling equipment according to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on drilling machinery to identify wear, defects, or malfunctions.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using appropriate tools and techniques, and execute timely repairs to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to improve equipment performance and implement modifications as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to support operational planning and compliance.
  • Adhere strictly to safety standards and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new technologies, tools, and best practices in mechanical fitting and drilling operations.
