About Arcus Power
Arcus is at the forefront of the global shift towards electrification and low-carbon power systems. Our AI-driven Energy Cost Management platform enables users to optimize operations based on electricity prices, peak demand periods, and market opportunities. Originally a tech startup in Calgary, Arcus is now expanding globally.
The Team
Our diverse team of data scientists, software developers, electrical engineers, and market analysts is committed to creating intelligent models that support efficient energy resource consumption. Arcus Power fosters a collaborative, innovation-driven, and dynamic culture, where everyone’s input is valued.
Your Role
As Product Specialist – Power Markets, Forecasting & Flexibility, you will support Arcus’s product management, UX, and sales teams by translating power market programs and stakeholder needs into compelling product narratives, effective demos, and clear product requirements. You will be customer-facing and will help qualify opportunities, shape expectations, and ensure Arcus’s DataHub, forecasting, and flexibility capabilities are positioned accurately for traders, asset operators, developers, aggregators, and technology partners. This role is designed with a defined growth path into Product Management.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead market-oriented discovery in customer engagements: map relevant market programs, stakeholder objectives, operating constraints, and decision criteria.
- Support Sales to qualify opportunities by identifying must-have requirements vs. “nice-to-haves,” clarifying data availability, and sizing implementation complexity.
- Deliver and/or support tailored customer demos by aligning Arcus workflows (DataHub, price/load/Coincident Peak/emissions forecasts, and flexibility/dispatch concepts) to the customer’s market context and use case.
- Translate customer business requirements into clear product requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlog inputs) for engineering, data science/ML, and UX teams.
- Contribute to proposals by drafting scope inputs for statements of work (SOWs): assumptions, dependencies, data requirements, success criteria, and out-of-scope boundaries.
- Identify product gaps and set realistic expectations with customers; propose workarounds or phased approaches and partner with Product Management to prioritize roadmap improvements.
- Partner with UX to validate workflows, terminology, and user journeys for power-market participants; provide feedback on prototypes for market accuracy and usability.
- Support internal enablement by creating market playbooks, stakeholder messaging, demo scripts, and objection-handling guides for key market programs.
- Collaborate with product and market experts to ensure flexibility use cases (BESS/DR/DER) are represented accurately, including operating constraints (SoC, degradation, dispatch limits) and participation considerations.
Your Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in power markets, market analytics, market operations, trading/origination support, DER/storage participation, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of power-market mechanics in at least one market (e.g., AESO, ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, MISO, SPP, ISO-NE, NYISO), including concepts such as LMPs, congestion, settlements, and peak/CP programs (where applicable).
- Exposure to flexibility resources (BESS, demand response, DER aggregation) and the commercial/operational considerations for participating in market or utility programs.
- Demonstrated ability to gather and synthesize customer requirements and translate them into structured deliverables (requirements, assumptions, scope outlines).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to explain complex market and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable in customer-facing settings (discovery workshops, demos, follow-ups) and able to manage expectations with clarity and integrity.
- Strong interest in building a long-term career in Product Management (ownership mindset, curiosity, prioritization, outcomes focus).
Highly Valued Skills:
- Prior experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, or collaborating directly with UX/engineering teams on product delivery.
- Hands-on experience with data/analytics workflows (SQL, BI tools, APIs, time-series data) and comfort discussing data quality, latency, and schema concepts.
- Experience supporting commercial proposals/SOWs, implementation planning, customer onboarding, or sales enablement in B2B SaaS.
- Understanding of forecasting, model validation/back-testing, and accuracy metrics for price, load, CP/peak, renewables, or emissions products.
- Familiarity with optimization/dispatch decision-support tools, bidding strategies, or portfolio operations for flexible assets.
- Startup or scale-up experience; comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration.
Key Competencies & Attributes:
- Customer-obsessed and outcome-driven, always tying work back to measurable customer and business value.
- Strong systems thinking across market design, data ingestion, forecasting/analytics, UX workflows, and commercial implications.
- Strong quantitative analytical and reasoning skills; able to assess forecast quality, understand settlement implications, and evaluate operational trade-offs for flexible assets.
- Pragmatic, structured problem solver who can break ambiguous needs into clear requirements and scoped deliverables.
- Collaborative with a team-first mindset capable of thriving in cross-functional environments alongside data science, engineering, market analytics, and commercial teams.
- Strong sense of ownership and urgency, with the ability to operate autonomously in an evolving, fast-paced environment.
- Capable of translating complex concepts into clear, concise messaging tailored to traders, developers, aggregators, operators, and technical teams.
What Arcus Can Offer
