Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge defense and intelligence programs for over six decades.
SDL’s internship program provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to get involved with state-of-the art technologies in space-, airborne-, and ground-based systems. With the support of engineers and mentors, interns can work on professional-level assignments that complement their academic studies. The program also includes training workshops, networking opportunities, and a variety of summer events and activities. Interns will be paid a competitive monthly stipend and will be tasked with varying duties based on current projects and needed support.
The Strategic and Military Space Division (SMS) is seeking an undergraduate-level student to join our team for the summer in Logan, Utah. In this position, the selected intern will refine their web application development skills to assist in developing, improving, and maintaining existing ground system web applications.
The SMS Division delivers advanced satellite and sensor systems that support defense contracts and the Intelligence Community. Our division is a key component of national security, providing technological solutions and expert mission support. At SDL, you’ll become part of a team dedicated to making a tangible contribution to our nation’s defense capabilities.
This position has the potential of continued employment or transition to student/full-time employment.
This internship is for the summer of 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write clean, consistent, and well-documented code
- Implement, test, and maintain code for internal and external customers
- Ensure that code meets end-user requirements
- Collaborate with a team of software engineers to improve existing web applications
- Assist in deploying and testing web applications
- Document and regularly present your work
- Must be currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computational Physics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Space Science, or a similar field
- Must be an undergraduate junior or senior student
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Programming experience in C#, C++, Typescript, or similar languages
- Experience with web application development or embedded development
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
