Purpose: Responsible for monitoring affordable housing occupancy which includes processing compliance applications and recertifications. Ensure occupancy at affordable housing properties remains at or above 90%. Assist corporate compliance team with various tasks as needed.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide site staff, leasing team and compliance department with excellent support and foster teamwork between operations and compliance.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for processing affordable housing compliance applications and annual recertifications for the REE affordable portfolio online and on paper when necessary. This will include meetings with applicants and residents on site or at the corporate office and conducting move in and annual recertification interviews if needed. Many compliance applications and recertifications will be completed online through Rent Café.
  • Assist and encourage residents to use Rent Café to complete their compliance applications and annual recertifications online.
  • Monitor Rent Café and Yardi Voyager for new compliance applications and completed annual recertifications. Process applications and annual recertifications within 24 hours of receipt and follow up until application or recertification is fully complete. Turnaround time must be within 5 business days.
  • Track move in applications and recertification. Communicate status of each certification with compliance and site staff. Recertifications must be completed 60 days prior to effective date.
  • Update Housing Tax Credit (HTC) with Tenant Income Certification (TIC) and demographic information.
  • Assist Corporate Compliance Manager with various tasks, such as annual compliance reporting and file audits.
  • Assist site staff with unresolved resident compliance related issues.

Non-Essential Job Duties:

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of affordable housing compliance experience, including Housing Tax Credit.
  • Industry compliance certifications preferred or ability to obtain within the next 12 months of hire.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
  • Strong organization/planning skills, with ability to pay close attention to detail and multi-task.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Yardi and Rent Café experience, preferred.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time as necessary to help at REE sites in the Metro and Rochester area. Must work at REE corporate office or on site 1 day per week.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of Fair Housing Laws.
  • Consistently follow, enforce and support REE screening criteria as required by the Fair Housing Laws and REE.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop and go up and down stairs as necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

$28.85 - $33.65 Hourly Wage
