STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Responsibilities:
- Performs accounting tasks related to business accounting, banking and accounts payable transactions.
- Process accounts payable entries, reconcile vendor statements, company credit card transactions/statements and general ledger accounts/entries ensuring accurate and timely payments.
- Sets up and maintain vendor files by verifying accuracy of information provided (address/tax ID number/tax status) and communication with vendors for any discrepancies.
- Pay vendors timely by monitoring all discount opportunities. Schedule and prepare accounts payable checks; reconcile purchase orders, invoices, payment discrepancies and documentation. Ensure credits are received for outstanding memos.
- Monitor and record daily financial transactions across multiple business locations. Prepare monthly journal entries and reports as requested/needed.
- Reports sales and use taxes by calculating, recording and reporting the requirements on invoices and sales reports.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
- Communicate with vendors and coworkers regarding billing, payments and any discrepancies or issues.
- Assist and support timely month and year end general ledger closing by properly recording expenses to accounts and cost centers. Analyzing invoice/expense reports/statements and ensuring entries are current and accurate.
- Assist in controlling expenses by monitoring controllable expenses and making recommendations of cost savings.
- Protects company by keeping information confidential.
- Perform other administrative and accounting tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Software Proficiency: Microsoft Business Central (or similar electronic accounting software), Excel, Google Sheets.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Integrity: Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong ethical standards.
