Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and engaging K–8 Music Teacher to inspire students through music education and performance. The ideal candidate fosters a love for music while supporting students’ academic, social, and creative development. This position involves teaching general music, vocal instruction, and age-appropriate music theory while contributing to a positive, collaborative school culture.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities
- Provide music instruction for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade
- Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate music lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Teach foundational music skills including rhythm, melody, harmony, vocal technique, and music appreciation
- Plan and lead student performances, concerts, chapel programs, and school events as applicable
- Integrate music with other subject areas when appropriate
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents
- Maintain music classroom, instruments, and materials
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to support school-wide initiatives
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (preferred)
- Teaching certification or eligibility preferred
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school music
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse abilities and learning styles
- Proficiency in vocal instruction; instrumental experience is a plus
- Commitment to professional growth and teamwork
