School Director (Principal)

PEACE Academy Charter works to promote educational and cultural empowerment for all of our students to ensure they are mastering or exceeding in their grade level content areas. Our strong focus on academics and cultural identity, supports us in being an inclusive school that is heavily grounded in community. We are seeking a dynamic School Director (Principal) to serve as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment and ensures all students receive the highest quality curriculum and instruction and achieve academic excellence. The position is responsible for managing the day to day function of a school which includes but is not limited to scheduling, curriculum development, budget management, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations.

This is an annual K-8 administrative position that reports directly to the Executive Director and that includes the responsibility of serving on the school’s K-8 leadership team.


Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrates belief that all students, regardless of background, ability, or zip code, have the option to go to and through college
  • Demonstrates commitment to the school’s vision, mission, and deep belief in equity and liberation for all.
  • Sets ambitious school-wide vision and goals, aligned with PEACE’s mission and goals, that prepare students for success in college and beyond.
  • Works to keep the school in alignment with any expectations set forth by the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Charter School Association, and the State Charter School Commission.
  • Attends any required state meetings, workshops and trainings
  • Works with the Board to ensure that the school is in compliant with all LEA guidelines
  • Develops and implements all school policies and curriculum with a strong focus on student outcomes
  • Sets clear academic, growth, operational and financial goals, and manages the school them to achieve them
  • Demonstrates ability to drive student achievement results through others (direct reports have improved student achievement results) by developing the school achievement plan and a strong managing of others.
  • Designs and leads the professional development of staff by demonstrating an understanding of appropriate application and differentiation of high-leverage instructional strategies (e.g. pacing, checks for understanding, students centered, etc.) based on comprehension of child development and pedagogy
  • Supports new staff hiring and onboarding processes 
  • Ensures high retention rates and engagement of teachers and staff
  • Implements classroom observations and feedback protocol
  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis; ability to extract meaningful insights from call data.
  • Oversee monthly field experiences and student field demonstration night
  • Evaluates leaders and teachers using the state approved TKES and LKES frameworks 
  • Works closely with the Director of Operations to follow state and LEA fiscal and testing policies
  • Oversees student enrollment and admission process.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours
  • Ability to work night and weekend events on the occasional basis and report to the school for emergencies which may include over holiday breaks.
  • Maintains culture of learning and excellence by demonstrating ability to set direction and invest and motivate others to action
  • Provides monthly data reports regarding enrollment, attendance, academic achievement, personnel and additional data to the Board.
  • Receives student/parent concerns and addresses them efficiently
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person work environments 
  • Demonstrating trustworthiness and sound decision making in dealing with confidential matters
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Board.

Salary:

Based on Board salary scale.


Requirements:

Minimum Requirements

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in education or related field preferred

Certification/License: Georgia professional certification at Level 5 or higher in a teaching or service field and in Educational Leadership preferred.Experience: The experience and qualifications preferred for this position include:

  • Minimum of 7 years experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role of an instructional program such as lead teacher, instructional coach/specialist and/or administrator
  • Experience with positive student behavior supports and interventions
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, teachers, and families
  • Experience in a charter school setting preferred
